Yesterday, I felt uncomfortable and off-centre, as all my emotions were heightened under this pink full moon. I was beginning to get caught up in the old familiar spiral, but I managed to hold myself tenderly, asking myself what I needed. All I knew was I needed to be in natural surroundings and sit with Cassie, my Shetland pony.
As I sat on the floor, she approached and stood beside me for 45 minutes, her soft velvet nose gently resting against my skin. An angel in horse form, she creates a space for me to understand what a genuine, uncomplicated connection feels like deeply. She offers her pure heart and embodies a raw, authentic feminine energy that many of us who have faced hurt from other wounded women genuinely need. There are many of us out there! However, we can find safe spaces to be ourselves and recognise, on a cellular level, that we are important and accepted.
Cassie once again revealed to me the healing power of female connections. Through her presence, she conveyed that I would find peace by gathering with like-minded women under the moon at our monthly "Where Women Gather" circles later in the day. I won't lie; it was a challenge to think I needed to create a nurturing space for others while feeling shut down and miserable. However, Cassie's unwavering support and calming presence transformed my mental paralysis and discomfort in my skin into a sense of grounding and spaciousness. This shift in energy offered me the environment to allow the ceremony to unfold, a true miracle.
No matter how far we journey into understanding our inner world, we all encounter moments that can throw us out of balance. The key lies in how we approach ourselves during these times. In the past, I often spiralled downward until I felt ready to explode, and usually, I reacted unskillfully. The difference now is that I have become my own parent—a calm voice of reason guiding me. Instead of numbing myself with substances or overreacting to minor issues, I choose to take a moment to breathe, connect with the land and our herd, and create a kind space for the frightened part of myself to find peace in stillness.
As the sun set last night, I realised that what Cassie had demonstrated through her extraordinary presence was absolutely true: feeling heard and seen as part of a community and connecting with others is vital for our health and well-being. The full moon ceremony was simple yet powerful and authentic, and everyone could feel it. We don't need to be polished or perfect—what truly matters is our honesty. As one woman beautifully expressed at the end, "Aren't we lucky?" At that moment, I felt the rush of pure joy of being part of a loving community of women, just as we once were—free from blame, competition, and judgment—simply women uplifting one another.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the women who have come together over the past few years. Your presence has been a vital part of my journey, and just as you share, I've been a part of yours. We all bring unique wisdom and experiences that offer medicine to the community, and I appreciate every moment we share.
Big, huge love, Kim x
