ELEPHANT WALK
Elephant Walk is a timeless Kundalini yoga exercise that invites you to connect deeply with your being. By holding onto your ankles or reaching as close as possible, you keep your legs straight and gracefully sway back and forth around the room.
Best experienced outdoors while barefoot on grass or earth, this practice helps ground you, fostering a deep connection to the planet beneath you. Your energy flourishes as you embrace this connection, allowing you to radiate your beauty into the world after your practice. This gentle movement supports digestion and harmonises your magnetic field, promoting metabolic balance and strengthening your innate resilience against disease.
Also, did you know that the elephant walk is a powerful tool for supporting those of us dealing with sadness? This practice reconnects us with ourselves, enabling us to take lighthearted yet impactful daily steps. With each step, we walk back home to our true selves, nurturing self-love and acceptance as we are, without pressure or needing to fix anything. This pure acceptance fosters a profound sense of belonging in the world, bringing genuine meaning and peace. This practice boosts circulation to the head and calms the mind. Start at one minute and work up to three.
There's so much out there for us to explore—ceremonies to attend, shamanic healing sessions, and all kinds of therapies, including equine therapy! As a yoga teacher, I understand how tough it can be to quiet our minds, especially when dealing with racing thoughts or a restless night's sleep. During those times, I love turning to rituals and practices that make me feel good and nurture myself. One of my recent favourites is the elephant walk; I find it an excellent tool to ground and unwind before meditating or settling in for the night. It helps me get in the right mood for some restful sleep!
What inspires you? I also find joy in chanting "Sa Ta Na Ma," which, in brief, means "Truth is my Identity."
Much love, Kim x
